"The goal of the Austin Women's Basketball League (AWBL) is to create an organized, competitive, all-women's league that encourages fitness, unites athletes and promotes camaraderie through basketball."
* NEW CHANGES: BOTH divisions will play on Friday nights from 7:00-10:00. The Intermediate division will play at Gus Garcia Rec Center (1201 E. Rundberg Lane) and the Elite division will play at Martin Middle School (1601 Haskell Street). We will have a joint social every week, immediately following the games, for the divisions to co-mingle!
AWBL Structure: Our league is set up as a free agency. Players register as individuals and are rated according to a questionnaire and by attending one or more of our Open Plays. From there, based on the individual's rating, each player is drafted onto a team by a coach. The purpose is to create a balanced league of teams, as well as effectively place each of the individual players who want to play on a team. There will be no pre-selected or pre-created teams.
